Release Date: Dec 14th

Divorced mother and romance writer, Lorie Foster, loves her job. She gets to work in slippers and be home for her son. The only problem is her books are no longer selling.
'Sex sells,' her editor informed her, 'so spice up the sex scenes.' A seemingly easy fix, but for an inexperienced Lorie, not so much.

Dane Trevors is a bachelor, who's recently got out of a rough relationship. He's moved back home to be close to his sister Dara; Lorie's best friend. Dara introduces Dane to Lorie, and he's more than interested, he's captivated. The only problem is, Lorie thinks he's gay. To make matters worse she also needs to learn about sex, and he's been wrote out of the equation. He's going to try to help her out of her dilemma, but he's got to remember to keep his hands to himself. Surely that won't be a problem?

It's getting closer to Christmas, and the only thing Dane wants is Lorie. He has a surprise for her, but things don't go quite to plan. Lorie can forgive many things, but can she forgive his lies?

Can Dane sort out the mess he's unwittingly found himself in? Or is he set for a very Blue Christmas?

Throw in a flatulent Bulldog pup, an ex-husband and a mother from hell, and you have the makings of a spoof. But this isn't a comedy, this is Lorie's life.

I still live in the small town in Manchester, UK, where I was born at home on January 10th 1968.  I was raised and attended school here. Now a wife and mother, I live with my husband and 6 children, and a small menagerie of animals.

I've always loved the underdog, the fighter. But let's face it, we all want to believe in a happily ever after. As a huge fan of books (book nerd is the endearing term, my children use). I have an immense romance collection which also includes paranormal romance. If I'm not writing, I've got my head stuck in a good book.

You can't beat reading, watching the plot and characters come to life in your imagination. It's so much better than television. When I was younger, I tended to re-write books and fairy-tales where I wasn't completely happy with the ending. It confused the hell out of my children once they learned to read. None of the books matched the stories I'd read them growing up.

I had a varied career including Admin, Customer Service, and Teaching unemployed adults IT and customer service skills. Well, until I became ill a few years ago.  I'm now at home full time, classed as disabled (neuro fog can make life, and writing fun sometimes).  So instead of feeling sorry for myself I decided to do something I'd always wanted to do and loved with my life.  I began to write my own stories (as I'd done as a child) and as well as keeping my mind active it's fun too.  I'm now ready to share them and happy to receive feedback about my books (stories).

Planet #Rockstock 2016 - Trecco Bay, Porthcawl, South Wales

Yesterday I landed back in Manchester, after attending the fourth annual Planet #Rockstock Event, in Porthcawl, South Wales. To say I was impressed by the whole extended weekend, would be a major understatement.

The staff onsite, all the Planet Rock staff, DJ's, fans and bands were so fantastic. So well organised, and the events ran smoothly to the timings. No easy feat, I can tell you, after having had first hand expereince at organising my very first author event and gig in Manchester, in August this year. Herding cats is probably easier.

As I said, this is the fourth such event, and the third one at the venue itself. The radio station Planet Rock, wanted to bring their radio station to life, which they did in spades. To be able to mix with the fans, staff, DJ's and artists is a rare thing, and an amazing chance to chat and make new friends which we did.

Planet Rock have supported a number of bands over the years, such as big favourites of mine - Rival Sons, from  the US. Too many to mention really, have received similar support, with new and upcoming bands being played by their superb, and approachable DJ's. ( I apologise as I was quite probably a little drunk, when I chatted with some of them.)

The official charity of the event is CALM, Planet Rocks official charity that raises awareness of Men's mental health issues. Wyatt Wendell - DJ, raised an amazing amount of money by completing  a bike ride from   to   . Last I heard in the region of £70,000.

On Friday 25th November at approximately 3.30pm, after his show on Planet Rock, Wyatt left his Central London Studio to travel the 1,100 mile journey across the UK ending at Planet Rockstock in Porthcawl, South Wales. Wyatt's journey took him to Nottingham, Sheffield, Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and finally arriving in Porthcawl in time for day one of Rockstock.

You can still contribute to this very worthy charity here CALM - the JustGiving page for the charity.

Suicide is the single biggest killer of men aged under 45 in the United Kingdom, and The Campaign Against Living Miserably, (or CALM) are trying to change that.

CALM keeps men alive by talking. Did you know that men are three times more likely than
women, to take their own lives. As an ex-nurse unfortunately I was well aware of these sad facts. All funds raised by Rockstock supports CALM's helpline 0800 58 58 58 and webchat service, open to all guys every day from 5pm 'til midnight. Find out more at

I only arrived at Porthcawl on the Friday afternoon, so unfortunately missed all the bands that played on the Thursday. But, I can give you the line-up and some videos of the bands I missed.

You can find Planet Rock here on Facebook, Twitter, their website, and instagram.

Mojo Sinners - The Traveller (Official Video)

The Mojo Sinners are a heavy blues rock band formed in the South Wales valleys during early 2015.
Rhondda, Cardiff, Ystrad Mynach. The band comprises Dave Williams (formerly of South Wales blues legends Blue Traffic) on guitar and vocals, Dane Campbell (also a member of rockers Straight Lines) on drums and Ross McInch on bass guitar. Between them they have shared stages with blues legends Robert Cray, Robin Trower, Walter Trout and Virgil And The Accelerators, as well as grunge rockers The Presidents Of The USA, Feeder and the mighty Mötörhead. The Mojo Sinners’ sound is a unique combination of heavy rock riffs and blues guitar solos, all played with the raw punk energy of early grunge.

Jimi Hendrix has always been a huge source of inspiration for Dave Williams, which can be heard in his guitar playing as well as his voodoo, gypsy-themed lyrics. Dave recently discoveredthat some of his ancestors were Romany Travellers, sparking a fascinationn that fuelled the concept of the trio’s debut EP, ‘The Carnival’, telling tales of old-fashioned travelling circus acts, fortune tellers, curses and the gypsy woman scorned, Belladonna.

Lazuli - Burg Herzberg 2016

Lazuli, a band from the south of France, was formed in 1998. Somewhere between rock, progressive rock and world music, poetry and travel, the remarkable music of Lazuli visit new territories with a rather unusual instrumentation: marimba, French Horn, drums, percussions, guitars, vocals... But also and especially a unique instrument created by Claude Leonetti: the Léode*. For Lazuli's musicians, songs are canvases on which they mix colors to paint their own world. The floating voice, playing with words, sings out ‘man’ in all of his facets. Lazuli brings atypical notes of originality to France's musical scene and carries them across it’s borders... On stage, Lazuli uplifts and bewitches...

Gédéric BYAR  - guitar, Romain THOREL - keyboards & French horn, Vincent BARNAVOL  - drums, perc & marimba, Claude LEONETTI / Léode*, and finally, Dominique LEONETTI - vocals, guitars 12 and 6 strings.

Broken Witt Rebels - GUNS (Official Video)

New EP Georgia Pine out now!

"One of the best new live bands in the country, it's a matter of time before they explode onto the big stages" This Feeling

Birmingham quartet Broken Witt Rebels combine the power and intensity of indie rock with the finesse and delicacy of soulful blues. Heralded as one of the most exciting new live bands in the country, they have just released a new EP Georgia Pine which is out now. Listen to the full EP on Spotify.

The band from Birmingham describe themselves as being Indie/Alternative/Blues/Rock, on their Facebook page. The line-up being Danny Core - Vocals & Rhythm guitar, Luke Davis - Vocals & Bass, James Tranter - Vocals & Lead Guitar, and last but not least James Dudley - Drums & Percussion. I love that they like Rival Sons, one of my favourite bands, and being influenced by the likes of Fleetwood Mac, another firm favourite of mine.

Lead single Low has been the featured track of the week on Radio X and playlisted on Planet Rock.

“There's something about this type of music that feels raw, Southern, and whiskey-soaked. I can't get enough” Indie Shuffle.

The arrangement of James Tranter’s dominant, layered guitar work, Danny Core’s strong and unique vocals, Luke Davis’s muddy harmonic bass playing and James Dudley's thunderous drumming are the framework of a band that’s enchanting and irresistible.

You can find the band here on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, their website, and finally YouTube.

The final band to play on Thursday evening was:

Tax The Heat

On their powerful debut  album ‘FED TO THE LIONS’ is  a sound inspired by  the  great bands  of the 60's – The Kinks , The Beatles, The Stones, The Yardbirds, and The Who – But, comparable  to  contemporary artists such as Jack White, Queens of the Stone Age, and The Black Keys.

Tax The Heat was born from a pure love of straight-ahead rhythm and blues music. With nods to many of their influences, calling back to a time when rock’n’roll was still new, vibrant and exciting while all the time keeping an energy-filled modern, alternative edge to the music they create.

Leading on from a chance meeting in a record store between two old school friends, Tax The Heat crafted the early rumblings of their retro-rock’n’roll sound in the late-night living room jam sessions. As a result, the 4-piece started recording their own demos using whatever suitable equipment and locations were available at the time.

The band have since found the ears of some of their most well respected contemporaries with Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy fame announcing Tax The Heat as his ‘Favourite New Band’ on VH1’s “That Metal Show” (USA). They also gained the interest of legendary producer Chris Goss (Masters of Reality, QOTSA, The Cult, BRMC) who, upon hearing the strength of the band’s self-recorded demos, immediately insisted upon coming to Bath, England at the end of his Masters of Reality tour to produce the E.P alongside engineer Tom Dalgety (Band of Skulls, Royal Blood, The Macabees). Tax The Heat’s début E.P was subsequently released in November 2013 on a limited run of 10” vinyl to coincide with a string of successful support slots including a UK Tour. The band’s music has gone on to receive airtime on UK radio at such stations as BBC Introducing and Kerrang! Radio, with their singles ‘Fed To The Lions’ and ‘Highway Home’ both being added to the Planet Rock Radio A-list (main playlist).

Tax The Heat made a strong impression on the U.K’s live music scene in 2014 with performances at Download Festival (2nd Stage), Calling festival (w/ Aerosmith), Steelhouse Festival and Camden Rocks Festival as well as being invited to tour as support to Black Star Riders (ex-Thin Lizzy), The Graveltones, The Virginmarys and The Cadillac Three. 2015 has been an intense year for the band so far, having joined Thunder & Reef for 3 arena shows in March as well as continuing to build their live reputation for tight, energetic and exciting performances playing support to Masters of Reality, Black Star Riders, Europe, Reef and a main stage slot at this year’s 2000 Trees Festival.

In September 2015 the band announced plans for their upcoming début album ‘Fed To The Lions’, which is set to be released in the Spring of 2016 after penning a deal with famed record label Nuclear Blast. The album will be mixed and produced by Evansson (Robert Plant, Siouxsie Sioux and Goldfrapp) who previously produced the band’s single “Highway Home”

Maggie’s Man The Cowboys of Cavern County Book Two by Bella Settarra

Maggie’s Man
The Cowboys of Cavern County Book Two
Bella Settarra

Looks can be deceptive—but a deceitful ex with a grudge can be downright dangerous.
Maggie Welch lives in a crummy apartment while working in a run-down café in Bracken Ridge, Cavern County. Her days have recently been brightened by the handsome cowboy who has started to frequent her workplace. Unfortunately, Aiden Fielding, the wealthy rancher, can’t be anything more than a friend, though, as her demise in social standing has robbed her of the confidence and money she once had.
Aiden Fielding is smitten with Maggie and enjoys her company at the café, which has recently become his regular haunt. When he finally plucks up the courage to ask her out, they have a wonderful evening, and he is impressed that, despite her current job, she is clearly much more socially adept than he had imagined. He suspects there is more to Maggie Welch than meets the eye. A crass remark, however, seems to ruin their chances of a future together and he ends up being thrown out of her apartment.  A later attempt to help Maggie ends in disaster when she is humiliated in front of his family and dinner-party guests.
Just when things had seemed to be looking up for Maggie, it has all come crashing down again. She realizes that Aiden doesn’t see her in the way she had hoped, and when she finds him entertaining her ex-fiancé, Robert Rossington, she feels that he is certainly not the gentleman she had perceived.
She knows that Rossington is a cheat and thief – the trouble is that’s only the half of it…

Maggie’s Man – Story Excerpt

They both looked up as the door opened and the local deputy, Dyson Shearer sauntered in.
“Wondered if I might find you here,” he said, nodding at Ben.
“Is everything OK?” The cowboy frowned as Dyson slid onto the stool next to him while Maggie poured another cup of coffee.
Dyson looked around and seemed glad, though not surprised, to see there were no customers about. “I had a tip-off that there was some kind of row between Rossington and Taylor last night,” Dyson told them gravely. “Sounded quite full-on from what the neighbors were saying.”
“What neighbors? Was Robert back in Pelican’s Heath last night?” Maggie felt her heart hammering at the thought that he might have been close by while she was on her own last night.”
“Tell me he wasn’t with Lorraine?” Ben’s face tightened as he fumed.
Dyson shook his head. “It happened over in Almondine.”
They both visibly relaxed a little.
“I thought Robert was meeting up with Taylor the night before?” Maggie frowned.
Dyson pursed his lip. “I guess they could have. They were definitely together last night, though. Witnesses saw them having a good ‘ole fist-fight on some wasteland behind the bank. Taylor hadn’t reported it though.”
“So he’s not claiming it was in the line of duty?” Ben scowled.
Dyson shrugged. “Wasn’t sure if either of you might know anything, that’s all.” He took another sip of his coffee.
“I know he’s planning on weddin’ Lorraine Parry this Saturday,” Ben replied, his lips tight with anger.
Dyson didn’t look surprised as he nodded. “Seems he’s been hoping to get her money out of her without actually marrying the girl, but that ain’t gonna happen. It still doesn’t explain why he’s in such a tearing hurry.”
“I don’t like it, Dyson. That fuckwad’s up to something, I just know it.”
“Something’s sure lit a fire under his ass,” Dyson agreed.
“Do you think maybe he knows Lorraine’s not so keen?” Maggie mused.
“Then surely rushing her into a last-minute arrangement is more likely to have her turn tail and run?” Ben sounded annoyed and it wasn’t hard to see why.
“So he’s taking one hell of a chance on it.” Maggie nodded. “He must be dang desperate to risk losing her all together.”
“Well if it’s just her money he’s after he must be in a real hurry to make some quick cash.” Dyson was already getting up, putting his hat back on. “I’ll do a bit more snooping. See if I can find out just what the heck he’s up to.”
“I’d be obliged if you could keep us in the loop, deputy,” Ben told him with a nod. “If there’s any way I can stop Lorraine from walking up that aisle I intend to do it, you know?”
Dyson nodded. “I know.”
Maggie and Ben stared at each other for a few moments after the deputy left.
“I’m gonna get back over to the ranch, see if I can keep an eye on Rossington,” Ben announced. “I feel happier knowing exactly where he is at all times.”
Maggie nodded as they both stood up. She felt better knowing someone had an eye on her ex, too. There was just no telling what the bastard would do next, left to his own devices.

The rest of the day dragged by for Maggie. Her mind whirled as she tried to imagine what Robert might be planning – and what hold he might have on Lorraine which would make her marry him, even though she clearly didn’t want to. It was very gracious of her to want to expose him for the fraud and cheat that he was, but surely it wasn’t worth marrying the scumbag over?
Her heart leaped a little when Aiden called her a while later. She hadn’t realized just how much she missed him, but since the other night she couldn’t get him out of her mind.
“Maggie are you OK?”
“Yeah, of course.” She slid into the kitchen to take the call.
“Ben was worried he’d upset you earlier. He can be a real dumbass at times.”
She could hear the concern in his voice. “No, I’m fine. Where are you?”
“I’m at the sheriff’s office. What time do you finish work?”
She glanced up at the clock. It had only been a couple of hours since Dyson had left them; had he unearthed something already? “About an hour’s time.”
She heard him muttering something at the other end of the phone and her stomach churned. “Aiden, is everything all right?”
“Try not to worry, darlin’ I’ll pick you up in a while.” His voice didn’t sound happy and she noticed her hand tremble as she clicked off the cell.
Luckily there weren’t many customers today and she felt like she was working on auto-pilot as she wiped down tables and forced herself to smile as she served coffee.
Aiden was true to his word and she was relieved to see his massive truck pull up in the parking lot as she locked up. He took her in his arms and hugged her tight. She could feel the desperation in his body and hoped they were going to spend the night together. The tight furrows on his brow told her it wasn’t the case though; something was very wrong.
“We have to get back to your place,” he told her, planting a quick kiss on the top of her head. “Deputy’s waiting for us with a search warrant.”

Maggie’s Man – Adult Excerpt

“You’ve got this all worked out, haven’t you?” Maggie smirked, enjoying the fire in his eyes as he told her his news.
“Oh yeah,” he murmured, wrapping both arms around her before taking her lips in a lingering kiss which she felt right down to her private regions.
The inferno inside her was instantly stoked by her passion and she flushed.
“You getting warmer, darlin’?” He must have noticed her face.
“Yup.” She nodded.
He peeled off her cardigan before slowly unbuttoning her blouse. His hands felt warm against her skin which tingled beneath his touch. His soft lips continued their careful assault on hers and she gasped as she ran her hands through his silken hair.
“Think I’m getting a little warm in here, too,” he hinted and she giggled before carefully unfastening his shirt.
She kicked off her boots as he pulled at the zipper of her jeans, and relished the slightly cooler air on her overheated body as she stood before him in just her bra and panties.
He quirked an eyebrow at her questioningly after heeling off his own boots and her hands trembled as she reached for his tented Levi’s. Sliding a hand behind the zipper to ease it open, she felt the warm velvet of his naked cock which dripped enticingly over her fingers. She blushed at the realization that he had gone commando today and smiled at the thought. Despite the softness of his skin, his member was rock-hard, hindering her efforts to pull the zipper over it.
Aiden chuckled from deep within his throat, clearly recognizing her plight, and slowly rocked back on his heels, clenching his muscles to allow her a little room to maneuver. Maggie grinned as she managed, at last, to free his huge cock. This was certainly a problem she had never had with anyone before – and definitely not with Robert Rossington!
She knelt in front of the handsome cowboy as she peeled his Levi’s from his damp flesh, yanking them over his feet with aplomb. Looking up at him she suddenly felt a little shy. He was so gorgeous and his body was completely naked as he stood before her. She breathed him in; a heady mixture of sweat and sex and raw sensuality, the like of which she had never encountered in her life.
Licking her lips she was delighted to notice that her mouth was directly in line with his inviting member, which twitched in front of her face, beckoning her to take a taste. Her eyes momentarily flitted to where it pointed – Aiden’s handsome face which was shining down at her encouragingly.
Leaning forward very slightly she held his hips in her quivering hands and wrapped her wet lips over his helmet, marveling at how perfectly it filled her mouth. She heard a moan emanate from him, and echoed it with one of her own, feeling the vibration of her lips against his sumptuous skin. Aiden must have felt the reverberation too as he immediately ran his hands roughly through her hair with a gasp.
Empowered by his reaction she hummed one more time before pulling her mouth from the end of his cock. He jerked as though in disappointment and she quickly licked the salty length of his shaft. He seemed satisfied and continued to run his long fingers through her waves, a little more gently, as she laved his boiling member, sucking at the delicious juices which escaped its dripping slit.
“Christ, Maggie,” he whispered as her tongue rasped at his flesh, and she took his balls, one at a time, into her hot mouth.
She felt his whole body stiffen and quickly cupped her lips around the top of his cock, kneeling higher so she could feed it right down her throat.
“I’m gonna come!” Aiden flinched and loosened his grip on her scalp even more, enabling her to pull her face out of the way if she wanted to. She didn’t.
He roared his release as his boiling seed gushed down the back of her throat, thick and creamy, soothing her from the inside out, coating her innards in his nectar, his passion. Maggie had never felt so connected to anyone and she relished the feeling of being so close to Aiden. She wanted to laugh and cry all at the same time as she sensed every nuance of his reactions to her. A gush from her pussy reminded her that their actions also had ramifications on her own body, and she clenched her thighs together tightly as she felt a hot trickle run down her leg.
Eventually she felt his stiff organ become flaccid on her tongue as it shrank back a little, and she slurped the last of his juices, taking his member in her hands as she licked off the last few drops.
“That was incredible,” he whispered, his eyes still closed as he ran his finger down her cheek.
She turned her head to kiss his hand and he helped her to her feet as he slowly opened his eyes and smiled down at her. His lips crashed down over hers and he held her tight, his hot, sweaty body pressed up close to hers. His cock felt impenetrable against the softness of her pussy and she was sure he could tell just how wet her panties had become.
With one hand he unfastened the back of her bra and she gasped into his mouth at the relief as her flesh flopped free of its confines. Aiden tugged at the fabric, only allowing a tiny gap of air between them as he whipped away the offending item, before her soft skin was pressed hard up against his ripped chest.
“I want you,” he whispered, his voice hoarse.
She nodded, unable to speak. It was enough.
With one arm he swept Dyson’s notepad and pen from the desk and leaned her back over the polished wood.
Maggie balked as she leaned right back and was relieved, although a little embarrassed when she felt his fingers yank the panties from her clammy skin. As she spread her legs she could feel the slightly cooler air as it wafted over her sticky flesh and she gasped as she felt the velvet of his head as Aiden lined his member up to her welcoming hole.
“Hang on.”
She felt bereft as he quickly moved away from her and she frowned up as she watched him take a step toward his Levi’s. Thank goodness he had remembered! He was already opening the foil packet with his teeth when he returned to his position, and swiftly rolled the thin rubber over his cock before throwing her a salacious wink.
Maggie smiled at him, her chest panting hard with anticipation. She nodded to his questioning look, indicating that she was ready and he groaned as he slid his humungous member into her dripping channel. She forced herself not to tense up as she felt herself being stretched beyond belief. The pain morphed into exquisite pleasure as Aiden allowed her time to adjust to his size before slipping into a natural rhythm as he pumped harder and harder into her. She was sure she could feel him right up to her womb and she clung to his biceps, riveted firmly in position, not that she would want to move even if she could – ever.
His gorgeous face shone down at her, studying her every expression, and she occasionally lifted a hand from one of his arms to stroke his face or his hair. Keeping his weight off her body he pounded harder and deeper into her until she screamed her delight as a million stars exploded in front of her eyes. He let out a deafening roar and she felt his seed burning her womb from the confines of the rubber sack. In that moment she wouldn’t have minded if he had forgotten about the condom all together; there was nothing she would like more than to have his baby. The thought invaded her mind and she realized that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Aiden Fielding.
“I love you,” she screeched over the sound of his groan.
He was silenced in an instant as he stared down at her. “Oh my God! I love you too!” Aiden breathed the words as though his life depended on it and his expression was a mixture of wonder and relief. “I really love you, Maggie.” He whispered the words slowly and purposefully, as though willing her to understand, to believe what he was telling her.

 ~  Bella’s Bio ~

Bella Settarra began writing for a living in 2014 after having to leave her job due to breast cancer. She has always had a positive outlook and saw this as an opportunity to do what she really wanted to do with her life—write.
Her intention was to start small, with a short story. Her imagination ran riot, however, and the story grew into a novella which was accepted for publishing straight away and became the first of a series of six Erotic Fantasy books, Sirens and Sailors.
After that she went on to write Cowboy Romances, which she loves. The first book, Ménage on Moone Mountain (The Men of Moone Mountain Book 1) was nominated for the Ménage Romances Fan’s Award 2015 and also became an ARe Best Seller. The third book in that series, Menage on Ryder Ranch was nominated for an Erotic Menages Romances Award 2016.She now has three cowboy series, The Men of Moone Mountain, The Cowboys of Cavern County and the more conventional Midnight in Montana. She is currently working on another Cowboy Romance, Love, Lies and Lariats this time including a little light BDSM. This will be the first of a new series called Romance and Rope.
Alongside her cowboy novels, she wanted to write a story about people who work in a restaurant, which is a subject close to her heart. She attended Catering College as a student and loved learning about food and alcohol service, as well as restaurant etiquette. She then went on to get several waiting on jobs before running a restaurant herself. Meanwhile she took several writing courses in order to hone her craft.
She has finally combined both her loves by writing a series, Collar and Cuffs, which follows the staff working in the restaurant of a swanky BDSM club—sex and food, what more can you ask for? LOL ;)
The first book in the series, Waiting on Summer (Collar and Cuffs book 1) was nominated for the BDSM Writers Con ‘Golden Flogger Award’ for the Best BDSM Book of the Year 2015 and also the Metamorph Publishing Indie Book Award 2016, as well as becoming an ARe Best Seller.
She hopes you enjoy reading her stories as much as she enjoys writing them, and would love readers to connect with her at:

Cowboy Romances? But you’re British!

I’ve heard this so many times I thought it a good idea to address the proclamation head-on.  The thing is I LOVE cowboy romances. Something about the smell of leather and rope, the sight of cowboy in his tight jeans, boots and hat – or even out of them ;) just does it for me.  I enjoy reading about them and I adore inventing my own and writing about them!
Okay, so it might seem a little unusual – we don’t have cowboys in the UK. I’ve been asked many times how I can write about something which is so far removed from our culture.  Here’s what I think – it doesn’t matter. There are millions of stories out there depicting myths, fantasy, the paranormal, Sci-Fi etc. I’ve never seen a dragon, a fairy, a vampire or a werewolf – that I know of – and I’m sure I’d remember if I’d ever been to the moon! I’m confident that the authors who pen those books haven’t either, but it doesn’t stop them writing about them, does it? I admit there are some ‘rules’ when writing about these things – a vampire wouldn’t be a vampire without fangs, for example – but even then rules are often made to be broken.
We’ve all heard the old adage ‘write what you know’ and in a lot of cases that’s pretty sound advice. But it’s also a good idea to write what you want to know. I have learned about everyday life on a ranch, how to lasso an object and how to crack a bullwhip (okay, so that last one may have been more to do with my BDSM novels, but you get the idea ;)). If you have an interest in something – and why would you want to write about it if you didn’t? – you take the time and trouble to find out about it. I worry so much about offending anyone by getting my facts wrong that I have studied hard to make my stories as authentic as possible, while keeping the fun and enjoyment of a fictitious story. I hope I have succeeded and that you enjoy my foray into the wild (west) side of life!
