“I’ve
had enough of men to last me a lifetime. Think I’ll stick to
writing about perfect heroes from now on. Guys who can’t hurt me or
give me grief.” Is going to be Faith Morgan’s mantra from now on.
After
finally leaving her unsupportive and unloving boyfriend when her
romance novel is signed to a large publishing house, Faith vows to
steer clear of men. Her best friend suggests she visits her aunt on
Waiheke Island in New Zealand to get away from it all. She jumps at
the chance and vows to steer clear of men. What she doesn’t expect
to find is love in the shape of sexy local businessman, Dean Jameson.
As
their relationship becomes more intense they admit their feelings for
each other. Together they overcome stressful encounters with their ex
partners and life is great. When her return date looms closer, they
begin to fear for their future. Will their love survive the distance,
or will it fade when they’re miles apart?
Excerpt
By
the time they reached the vineyard, Faith’s stomach was in knots
and her body trembled with nervous anticipation. Dean waited for them
by the front door. He wore black jeans, a pale blue shirt and the
most gorgeous smile she’d ever seen. He went to Edie’s side first
and helped her out.
“You
look hot, Edie.” He kissed her on both cheeks.
“You
know how to make an old lady blush, Dean. Thank you for the
compliment.” She headed indoors.
He
strolled around to Faith’s side and her heart thundered in her
chest. He opened her door and held his hand out for her. She got out,
shut the door behind her and leaned against it for support. The
hungry expression in his eyes started a teasing throb at the apex of
her thighs. The tension between them was almost unbearable.
“Thank
you for the beautiful flowers. It was such a lovely gesture.”
Raising
her hand to the heat of his mouth, he placed a chaste kiss upon the
back of it. That one small touch sent her pulse skyrocketing.
Spotting the flower in her hair, he smiled.
“You
look stunning, Faith. Absolutely beautiful.”
The
scent of his aftershave, mixed with his own masculine scent, made her
dizzy.
“You
don’t look too bad yourself. Oh, I have something for you.”
She
went back to the car and retrieved his hoody.
“Thank
you for this.” She handed it back to him.
“Did
you wash it?”
She
did a double take. “No, sorry, I…”
There
was a wicked twinkle in his eyes.
“Good.
It’ll still have your scent on it.”
She
watched in fascination as he put the top to his nose, breathed in
deeply and murmured in approval. It was such an innocuous gesture,
but it played havoc with her body and her panties felt damp. He
offered her his arm and led her toward the house. When they got to
the door, she held back.
“I
wanted to say thank you again for being there for me this morning.
Especially after I’d been so nasty to you.”
“Anytime.
I’ll be here for you whenever you need me.” His words held
sincerity.
“Come
on, let’s go inside. It’s still a while before sunset.”
How
the hell would she make polite conversation with his parents and her
aunt, knowing full well that they would be kissing soon…with any
luck?
