Upcoming Book Launch and Blogger of the Year 2014 Skelat

Well what can I say? What a bumper end of last year, and start to the New Year I have had. My New Years Eve was made especially exciting by the news that I received at about 10 pm that evening, via Twitter and Skelat that I had won The Blogger of the Year 2014.

This is a fairly new event, as last year was the first year this event had appeared on the site. The Blogger of the Year 2013 was won by the auspicious writer and blogger Seumas Gallacher. Therefore, Seumas kindly handed the crown of blogging to myself, I suppose making me the Queen for a year. I was up against some extremely tough competition and this makes winning all the sweeter.

The top ten bloggers were;

Scarlett Flame

The final three, all ladies were, myself, Carol Hedges and Marie Gilbert.

I received a tweet informing me that I had been nominated by other bloggers and writers and, that as a result was in the top ten bloggers list. I was informed that voting would commence and then end again, count set to zero and that the top three of that list would make it to the final. The final three bloggers were all ladies and excellent bloggers in  their own rights. Therefore a Queen of Blogging was set to take over from the King of Bloggers. I am very proud that I was nominated, and thankful for all the help I received to this end. Especially from fellow writer and bloggers. I am also extremely thankful to EVERYONE that voted for me THANK YOU

Debut Novel

The other exciting event for myself was, that I have published my debut novel Bound for Passion as an Indie author on CreateSpace. This is now available to buy as both a Kindle download and as a paperback book via Amazon. I cannot tell you how much pleasure I got from seeing the proof of the actual book, and holding it in my hands.

The cover of the book is from a painting by an artist friend of mine that is based in Cork, Ireland. His name is Alan Hurley. I have had only fabulously positive comments about the cover and hope to use Alan again in future. The picture is also available to buy as a print from his gallery. Alan has some absolutely beautiful paintings please visit his page and choose some for yourself.

I have two signed prints gracing my living room walls, an original watercolour taken from my avi photograph on Twitter and this hangs in pride of place on my bedroom wall.

Alan also has a Blog here so please visit him here and see how his work progresses from an outline drawing to a full blown picture

The graphics were supplied by another good friend of mine, who is also an author Jon Fletcher who I did an interview for last year about my next book and a current WIP. Jon writes Science fiction and I believe I own ALL of his books. Check out Jon's blog and his author page to see more.

The debut novel is composed partially of stories that were published initially on my blog over the last six months or so, and a new story created especially for the book.

Description for the book

When Vivienne sits inconsolable in the hospital chapel, the last encounter she expects is a fervent entanglement with an otherworldly being, as passions increase she learns for the first time in her life the true meaning of out of this world. In the second, Sarah meets a new lover after telling him all her intimate fantasies in an internet chat room. And, the final story concerns the journey a young woman takes, as a Dominant offers to show her the ropes, in exchange for her submission via BDSM. Individually these stories are hot, but together they are sizzling

This is a short excerpt from The Stranger which is the first story in the book, read by myself, on audioboo

This is the first review I received on Amazon.com

First 5* review

If you are into erotica – particularly BDSM – this collection of three novellas should be on your Christmas list.

Ms Flame’s debut publication has a fun and light touch to it: nothing nasty, but this is definitely an adult read!

and on Amazon.uk

Another of my 5* reviews

For a new writer Ms Flame appears to have a good knowledge of her subject, and imparts this to her readers in a well paced and accessible way. The little asides, and flashes of humour give the narrative a lift, punctuating the rapid sexual action and adding a true and human sense of realism to her story lines.

For lovers of BDSM based erotica that is not too heavy or extreme these 3 stories give easy but intelligently written entertainment, with a variety of sexual action. I hope Ms Flame erotic writing skills will continue to develop; I suspect she is a writer to watch.

Suzy Ayers Book Tour for Serena's Decision

Hello everyone, today I am hosting the book tour for my good friend Suzy Ayers. This is to launch her new book Serena'sDecision.

Suzy Ayers is a Bestselling Author of "Sara's Awakening" in Fantasy (Metaphysical/Visionary). She has multiple Erotica titles that have also been in the Amazon Bestseller lists within the free categories.

Her main focus is Romance, which crosses many genres including: Erotica, Fantasy and coming soon Paranormal. Her short stories and books twist into happily-for-now or happily-ever-after's.

Suzy attempts to write in a manner that pulls you into the erotic event and paints an explicit scene of lust and passion. Her purpose of expressing it in this manner is that she believes that sex and love are intertwined and are healthy expressions of the human heart. Her writing depicts true to life characters with flaws and showcases that the world is sometimes sad; people are not one dimensional shells. We somehow become stronger and this to her is beautiful.

Suzy's website is here

Please also take some time to follow my good friend Suzy on Twitter and Facebook

Now let us look at an excerpt and some details about Suzy's new book

Serena’s Decision (The Torn Series: Book 3)

Description:

Max confessed his indiscretion, despite their contract stating their open relationship. Can she get beyond wanting more from him? Or will her heart lead her to another? Will she continue to want even a Dom/sub relationship? Can she finally expose her past?

Let's see where Serena's heart leads here in this final book in the series.

The Series

And now some information about the series of books Serena's Decision is part of. This series is about a young Serena who has found Max, or perhaps he found her, and they have embarked on journey that I like to describe as funishment. It is defiantly within the realm of BDSM, however the main recurring theme is spanking.

Books:

“Master-bation, At Sir’s Command (The Torn Series: Book 1)” focus’s mainly on the namesake in the beginning, however the scenes develop throughout the book. The reason behind the self-learning is to help Serena and Max learn what she likes and can tolerate.

“Sir’s Deception (The Torn Series: Book 2)” showcases both of their desires building for each other, however it seems neither wants to admit it. Mykel is introduced, a friend of Max’s. Also some element of danger creeps in for Serena. While Max goes to a convention and you decide is he unfaithful or not, despite his open relationship clause.

“Serena’s Decision (The Torn Series: Book 3)” Serena meets another man, Glen. He’s about her age, muscled and has been pining over her for about 2 years. She relents and goes out with him and Max see’s her at the club.

Excerpt of Serena and Glen’s kiss on their date:

Checking herself in the mirror she smiled. Glen is really trying very hard. She released tension from her shoulders and stood a little taller, turning in her dress she checked her figure to make sure she looked alright. She replaced her coat and scarf, as she walked back to the front she put on her gloves.
She met him at the front door and he held it for her. Tingles ran over her flesh, something about the chivalry got to her every time.
“Thanks,” she wrapped her scarf around her neck a little tighter. “And for dinner, it was so delicious. You’re always too good to me, you know.” She tucked her arm into his and leaned her head on his shoulder.
“Serena, you know it’s nothing.”
She pulled her head away. “It is,” she said, irritated with his nonchalance. “I struggle with money. I just want to say I appreciate it. Just say you’re welcome.” She had no idea what caused her to be upset, but something spurred her anger.
He pulled her to a stop. “Serena,” he gave her a hard look. “Are you trying to pick a fight with me for a particular reason?”
“No, I-” she looked down. Was I?
“Good. You’re welcome then.” He tilted her chin up.
Confused by her own emotional outburst, she looked at him apologetically. Maybe it’s the alcohol.
He didn’t give her a moment to figure it out, as they stood at his car. His hand sliced through her hair and his lips claimed hers with vigor.
She sighed and leaned into his body, needing comforting touch. The taste on his lips was sweet, tangy, and she longed for so much more.
“Mmm,” She gripped the collar of his jacket pressing her body closer, as his arm wrapped around her waist and the other around her head. She urged him further, but he pulled away.
“Serena,” he laughed as he spoke. “Damn, you’re so fucking hot.”
“Don’t think you’re getting out of taking me dancing,” she teased.
He grinned. “Wouldn’t dream of it.” He placed his hand on the small of her back and pressed her gently toward the car door.
She looked over her shoulder shyly at him. Damn, he’s a good kisser. She slipped into the passenger seat, her hormones were raging now. She wiped the corners of her mouth. She watched his fist lightly pound the front of the car and she laughed at his frustration. Grinning, as he got in, she asked, “Is there a problem, Donvan?”
“Oh yeah,” He tickled her leg by squeezing that sensitive spot right above the knee.
She saw his problem piercing through his jeans and she giggled, she couldn’t even suppress it, the alcohol had a hold on her.

Blog of the Year 2013 My first Star

Blog of the year 2013......

Blog of The Year 2013 Award

I have to admit that this year as a writer, for me, has been a phenomenal and amazing one, and far exceeded my dreams.

The very first post I placed on my Blog was back in February this year, just before Valentine's Day. Since that time my writing has gone from strength to strength. This I think, is partly due to constructive criticism from fellow writers and Bloggers, and also as we know,
practice makes perfect.

I have had to date almost 16,500 views of my Blog and very proud to say that. I was excited when I got 10 views a day at the beginning and a possible 30 views overall in a week.

This Blogging award is particularly sweet, as it comes via one of my sister writers, and a fellow nurse Taylor Fulks.

Like Taylor, at the beginning of my Blogging experience, I struggled to work out how to use the tools of my trade in order to produce a visual experience that was both pretty and presentable. Especially after looking at some of the amazing Blogs available on the Internet. Over time though I have begun to learn the basics, and finally feel that I am getting somewhere.

Taylor's Blog Taylor~Made Thoughts & Doodles, is a fantastic Blog and well worth a visit, so please do and tell Taylor I sent you.

This is my first nomination for Blog of the Year Award - 2013, and came from the lovely, talented Taylor Fulks. Taylor is an author/blogger par excellence at http://taylorfulks.com/blog/

I am so grateful to Taylor as we have become firm friends, despite the pond that lies between us (known as the Atlantic.) We have so much in common as Taylor is a nurse ( like myself) and a writer and blogger too. Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart Taylor.

This part of the Blog is where I pay forward this prestigious award (as this award is freely given from one author to another)

The Rules

1) Select the Blog or blogs you think deserve the "Blog of the Year 2013" award.

2) Write a Blog post and tell us about the Blog or Blogs you have decided to choose. There is no minimum or maximum number of Blogs required - and then you may "present" the Blog or Blogs with their award.

3) Let the Blog or Blogs that you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share these instructions with them ( please don't alter these or change the badges)

4) Come and say hello to the originator of the "Blog of the Year 2013" Award via this link
http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/blog-awards-2/blog-of-the-year-2013-award/

5) You can then also join the "Blog of the year" Award Facebook Page - click the link here
and share your blog posts to an even wider audience

6) And, as a winner of the award - please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award - then proudly display the award on your Blog.........and start collecting stars.....

Blog of The Year 2013 Award

Yes - that's right - There

 are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once - this award is different!

When you begin you will receive "1 Star Award" and every time you are given the award by another blog - you can add another

There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

Which means that you can check out your favorite blogs – and even if they have already been given the award by someone else – you can still bestow it on them again to help them to reach the maximum 6 stars! You can either ‘swap’ your badge for the next one each time you are given the award – or even proudly display all six badges if you are lucky enough to be presented with the award six times!

CONGRATULATIONS!

CONGRATULATIONS to the following, here is your first star (maybe your second, could even be your third) but it is the first star from me!

This list in in no particular order but these are bloggers that a very eclectic mix of writers and bloggers

I recommend you visit and read and judge for yourselves whether my choices are the excellent choices I believe that I have made.

So, here we go:-

Book Review for Hungry Ghosts (Time, Blood and Karma Book Two) by John Dolan

Hungry Ghosts is the second in the series of "Time, Blood and Karma" by John Dolan. The first in the series being "Everyone Burns (Time, Blood and Karma Book One)"

This book takes you in to the world of farangs, and lets us experience Bangkok and Samui through the use of John's story telling. The descriptions and imagery makes the reader feel as if they have stepped in to these exotic locations. The smells, the sights and the language are brought to life through the telling of this thrilling story about a private investigator who is not short on character.

I enjoyed the first book in this series immensely and have anticipated the sequel with bated breath, downloaded and read this in short shrift.

The twists and unexpected turns abound once more, with further explanations and plot twists enough to make your head whirl. What you thought you knew after completing the first book is put test as further developments occur, demanding that you re-evaluate your previous assumptions.

David Braddock the main protagonist, proves to be a vastly troubled individual and in this book we get to dig deeper in to his psyche.

I will not provide any spoilers as basically they spoil! (hence the name) All I will say is download and read this fantastic book as I myself could not put it down once started. Dinners burnt and household tasks were left undone. This book will have you on the edge of your seat and also having a little chuckle with John's dry humour. David Braddock's amorous encounters with the ladies are numerous and varied, and you can't help having a soft spot for the rascal despite this. He proves once again to be a bad boy, but one with a heart.

I am now waiting (albeit impatiently) for the final book in the series (type faster John).

Well done once again Mr Dolan and a high five. Another well deserved five stars from this fan.

Night & Day Cafe Gig with The Bedroom Hour

The Bedroom Hour

I attended a gig recently at the Night & Day Café to watch a band I know well from Twitter, Facebook and YouTube the band are The Bedroom Hour. The gig took place on Saturday the 10th of August 2013 at the Night & Day Café. I have to give a shout out to Harriet and Jules on the bar that evening. Thanks girls you worked hard that evening

The Night & Day Café is an intimate venue in The Northern Quarter in Manchester and well worth a visit. It is situated on Oldham Street.

This was to be The Bedroom Hour's debut performance in Manchester and what a performance it was. Also playing on that evening were The Reveres and Narcosis.

The band members comprise of  Stu Drummond Lead vocals, Mark Dudley keyboards, Dan Rider bass and backing vocals, Rob Payne guitar and backing vocals and finally but not least Lewis Cosham drums.

The band have a number of songs available to download. A particular favourite of mine being X marks the spot with an extremely well polished video.

They played a number of tracks on the night and their set included x marks the spot, Nocturnal, Submarine, Midnight Game, Heart Will Haunt and Shadow Boxer. All in all the band are headed for big things.

Their debut E.P. is available to download "Themes" and if you ask the lads they will describe themselves as psychedelic rock but that are much more than that too. They have been compared to a number of bands including Elbow. All I know is they were magical to watch and all eyes were fixed on them, as they used their emotionally charged numbers in order to keep the audience entertained.

The night was an outstanding success with a fabulous atmosphere. Resulting in a further visit to the Night & Day Café lined up for the  Saturday the 2nd of November 2013 with special guests to be announced.

You will find them on Twitter

The Reveres

The Reveres also played that evening. They are a four piece band from Greater  Manchester. The line up includes Oliver Lomax - vocals, guitar & Harmonica, Paul Hesketh - Guitar & vocals, Josh Stewart (described as a Ronnie Wood lookalike!) Bassist, and last but no mean least Tim Hewitt - drums.

Their E.P. Pale was released on 25th February this year and also an Acoustic E.P.

The band are an alternative Indie rock band with influences from many sources including The Smiths, The Rolling Stones and the Jam to name but a few. Quite an eclectic mix.

The numbers they played that evening included Riders from Zero, Chase the light, Kick your Maker, Love in Vein and The Death of Miss X amongst others

You will find them on Soundcloud.

Narcosis

The final band in the line up was Narcosis.  This is a three piece band from Hinkley in Leicester.
The line up being Richard Brown - vocals, Christopher Cropp - guitar and Stephen PGB King on drums.

There record label is Lazy Llama Records.

Some of the tracks they played were Abusing Ron, Beautiful Ally, Mechanical Face and Flames are Forgotten

Three of these tracks are available here on myspace

Unfortunately it sounds as if this band are no longer on our shores

Saturday the 2nd of November 2013

The Bedroom Hour are once again at The night & Day Café in

 Manchester

I will be there Will you?
